After a change in behavior and her first suicide attempt at the tender age of 12, we learned of Madeline's sexual abuse by a close family member that occurred from ages 6-10. She was diagnosed with PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety, just to name a few.
While we worked diligently to try to overcome and repair the extreme damage done, unfortunately we were unsuccessful. The damage was too catastrophic and her mental illnesses won the battle.
Sadly, she took her life at the young age of 14 . . .almost 2 years after we learned about her abuse. While we worked so hard to keep her here, we realized there was an extreme lack of access to resources, information and support for childhood trauma in our local community.
It is our hope and passion to bring more support, compassion and resources to our area for those affected by childhood trauma and the mental illnesses they cause.
